Georgia Power Company, Department of the Navy break ground on 150-acre solar farm in Albany

ALBANY — A groundbreaking ceremony recently kicked off construction of a 150-acre solar farm on the Marine Corps Logistics Base-Albany that will generate up to 44 megawatts of direct current or 31 megawatts of alternating current power.

The Department of the Navy and Georgia Power Co., a subsidiary of the Atlanta-based Southern Company, announced in early April they would develop a large-scale solar facility at the base.

Once completed, the facility is expected to be one of the state’s largest solar installations.
