New Caterpillar plant to be built in Georgia

A new Caterpillar facility will be built in northeast Georgia straddling the line between Athens-Clarke and Oconee counties on 252 acres.  The factory will create 1,400 jobs, according to the Athens Banner-Herald.

The two county governments will pay a total of $17.6 million for land and improvements in an agreement Georgia economic officials call typical for a deal this size.  Atlanta Journal-Constitution
